The Weinberg Residence is led by a highly experienced management team with diverse expertise catering to the needs of Vancouver’s Jewish community:
David Keselman, CEO
David brings over 20 years leadership experience in executive roles held in Ontario and the Northwest Territories, most recently as the Vice President, Patient Services at Stanton Territorial Health Authority in Yellowknife and prior to that, as the Executive Director of the Toronto, York, Peel, and Barrie sites of the Victorian Order of Nurses.
His educational background includes a Doctor of Health Administration from the Central Michigan University, a Masters of Nursing, and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Honours) from the University of Toronto.
David has a broad background in innovation, leading clinical operations, and implementing quality initiatives. David is also a surveyor with Accreditation Canada and an Associate Instructor in both the Ryerson University School of Nursing, and the faculty of Health Studies at Athabasca University.
Tony Holtzhausen, CFO
Tony is the Chief Financial Officer, joining the Louis Brier Home and Hospital and Weinberg Residence in May 2016. He is responsible for finance, accounting, information systems, purchasing and reception.
His experience spans over twenty five years in finance, accounting and operations in both the public and private sectors. He has extensive healthcare finance experience having moved from Saskatchewan where he was the Director of Finance for the Prince Albert Parkland Health Region.
Tony is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA).
Vanessa Trester, Manager of the Weinberg Residence
Vanessa has been managing the Weinberg Residence since its inception in 2003. She brings a wealth of knowledge to the Weinberg team, having 14+ years of management and leadership experience in Independent and Assisted Living. For several years, prior to entering the senior living sector, Vanessa worked with British Columbia’s Public Guardian and Trustee’s office.
Vanessa’s passion for the study of aging led her to complete a Masters degree in Gerontology from the acclaimed Leonard Davis School of Gerontology at the University of Southern California. Her expertise in the field is an invaluable skill when interacting with residents and their families.
Vanessa leads the Weinberg team with a strong focus on residents first, as well as ensuring quality of care and dedicated service. The Weinberg Residence has been noted for becoming an integral part of Vancouver’s Jewish community.
Just ask Vanessa and she will proudly tell you that when you step into the inviting atmosphere of the Weinberg Residence on any given day, you’ll feel the warmth, caring and friendship that prevails throughout.
Florence Mwega, Executive Leader, Support Services
Florence is the Executive Leader of Resident Support Services, joining the Louis Brier Home and Hospital in September 2015. She is responsible for food services, laundry, housekeeping and building maintenance. Her experience spans over twenty years in the hospitality sector in both private and public sectors where she has successfully managed delivery of top quality support services in hospital and care facility settings in the lower mainland and overseas. Florence comes from a community nutrition background and holds a Diploma in Nutrition and a Bachelors of Technology degree in Leadership and Management (Health Option) from BCIT. She is also a member of the Canadian Society of Nutrition Managers (CSNM) & the Supply Chain Management Association (SCMA).
Angela Millar, Executive Leader of Care
Chef Steven Boudreau
Born and raised in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Chef Boudreau attended the Culinary Institute of Canada in Prince Edward Island. After graduation, he was selected with four other students to work on Nantucket Island. He worked there for two seasons and then made his way out west where he landed in Vancouver and worked for such award-winning restaurants as Cioppino’s (Chef Pino Posterero) and Il Giardino’s (Umberto Menghi).
Chef Steven left Vancouver to work two seasons at Painters Lodge and April Point as Executive Sous Chef. He then spent the winter traveling and exploring the world in such countries as Vietnam, Cambodia, Argentina, Peru, Uruguay, France, Germany and beyond, gaining inspiration and knowledge of diverse culinary traditions from around the world. Next, he spent a year in Montreal, Quebec running a bistro and catering company.
Longing for the West Coast, he returned to B.C to become the Executive Chef of Poets Cove Resort and Spa on Pender Island for the next five years. Finally, Chef Steven spent two seasons working for The Restaurant at Painted Boat on the beautiful Sunshine Coast.
Chef Steven is very excited to bring his culinary talents to the Weinberg and create wonderfully tasty and healthy meals that will inspire residents for years to come.
