The Weinberg Residence is led by a highly experienced management team with diverse expertise catering to the needs of Vancouver’s Jewish community:

David Keselman, CEO

David Keselman, CEO, Louis Brier Home for the Aged and Weinberg ResidenceDavid brings over 20 years leadership experience in executive roles held in Ontario and the Northwest Territories, most recently as the Vice President, Patient Services at Stanton Territorial Health Authority in Yellowknife and prior to that, as the Executive Director of the Toronto, York, Peel, and Barrie sites of the Victorian Order of Nurses.

His educational background includes a Doctor of Health Administration from the Central Michigan University, a Masters of Nursing, and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Honours) from the University of Toronto.

David has a broad background in innovation, leading clinical operations, and implementing quality initiatives. David is also a surveyor with Accreditation Canada and an Associate Instructor in both the Ryerson University School of Nursing, and the faculty of Health Studies at Athabasca University.

Tony Holtzhausen, CFO

photos-1Tony is the Chief Financial Officer, joining the Louis Brier Home and Hospital and Weinberg Residence in May 2016. He is responsible for finance, accounting, information systems, purchasing and reception.

His experience spans over twenty five years in finance, accounting and operations in both the public and private sectors. He has extensive healthcare finance experience having moved from Saskatchewan where he was the Director of Finance for the Prince Albert Parkland Health Region.

Tony is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA).

Vanessa Trester, Manager of the Weinberg Residence

Vanessa Trester, Manager of the Weinberg ResidenceVanessa has been managing the Weinberg Residence since its inception in 2003. She brings a wealth of knowledge to the Weinberg team, having 14+ years of management and leadership experience in Independent and Assisted Living. For several years, prior to entering the senior living sector, Vanessa worked with British Columbia’s Public Guardian and Trustee’s office.

Vanessa’s passion for the study of aging led her to complete a Masters degree in Gerontology from the acclaimed Leonard Davis School of Gerontology at the University of Southern California. Her expertise in the field is an invaluable skill when interacting with residents and their families.

Vanessa leads the Weinberg team with a strong focus on residents first, as well as ensuring quality of care and dedicated service. The Weinberg Residence has been noted for becoming an integral part of Vancouver’s Jewish community.

Just ask Vanessa and she will proudly tell you that when you step into the inviting atmosphere of the Weinberg Residence on any given day, you’ll feel the warmth, caring and friendship that prevails throughout.

Angela Millar, Executive Leader of Care

Angela MillarAngela Millar leads a portfolio that Includes quality and risk management, infection control, recreation, social work and companion services. She also leads the Accreditation process at Louis Brier and is looking forward to the Accreditation Canada Survey coming in May 2018. Angela brings almost three decades of healthcare experience including more than ten years of senior leadership in Residential Care. Her educational background includes an Associate of Arts degree, a Bachelors Degree in Rehabilitation Sciences (OT) as well as certificates in Mediation, Negotiation and Conflict Resolution. Angela’s experience in organizational change, facilitative leadership and healthcare administration as well as her commitment to quality improvement and resident and family centred care support our Mission to provide exemplary seniors care.

Chef Morris Zelmanovitch

Originally from Toronto, Chef Mo trained in Ottawa at the Algonquin College and worked at the Embassy West Hotel doing private catering functions for some of the world Ambassadors stationed in Ottawa. After a short stint back in Toronto and LA, Chef Mo was the personal Chef for actor Steven Seagal.

In pursuit of a new lifestyle, for the next seven years, Chef Mo further honed his craft as an Executive Chef in some of the top boutique resorts in the British Virgin Islands. Homesick for Canada, Chef Mo relocated to the mountains of Jasper, Alberta, where for two years he assumed the role of Executive Chef at the stunning Stone Peak Restaurant at the Overlander Mountain Lodge.

After enjoying the Jasper area for a few years, Chef Mo decided that he was ready for new challenges and opened Chef Mo’s Tasty Nuts & Catering in Calgary. Small batch Artisan roasted nuts was a niche market in Calgary and was very well received. He also took on the role of Executive Chef for Compass Group Canada at the newly built South Health Campus in Calgary providing healthy meals for patients, staff and guests.

Since November 2016, Chef Mo and his wife, have lived on the Island of St. Lucia in the Caribbean, where he has been the Personal Chef for some of the most prominent families on St. Lucia. Chef Mo’s Jewish upbringing provides him with a wealth of knowledge about Jewish life especially when it comes to food! Chef Mo is very excited to be moving to Vancouver and joining the team at the Weinberg Residence, where he will be creating memorable meals & experiences for the residents and their families.
