Cultural & spiritual programs at the Weinberg Residence
We are an integral and culturally rich part of Vancouver’s Jewish community. Community members – including rabbis, cantors, lay leaders, children and families – play a prominent role in maintaining and nurturing Jewish life at the Weinberg Residence.
Life at the Weinberg Residence is embedded with Jewish values and traditions. This may mean something different to each individual, and you are able to observe Jewish traditions and holidays in the way that is most meaningful to you. You might enjoy the traditional mincha service or a delicious Sabbath dinner surrounded by friends. Perhaps a little kibitzing over cocktails by the fireside is more your style, or participating in a university learning course on Israeli history. Or maybe, like many residents, you’ll enjoy the simple comfort of just relaxing in the warm, Hamish atmosphere that reminds you so much of home.
Our chaplain is available to provide spiritual support for you. This can be important and helpful during life’s challenging moments. Spiritual support can take many different formats from individual counseling and guidance, to casual intellectual chats, or schmoozing over a cup of coffee.
Cultural and spiritual support is often accompanied by different modalities that include our music and recreation therapists, social worker, and other visiting professionals. Together this provides a rich community where your life and culture is valued and honoured.
